MANFREDO DORINDO DI CRESCENZO successfully completed his studies in: Pianoforte at the “Santa Cecilia” State Conservatory of Music (Rome); Composition, Choral Music and Choral Conducting at the “G. Rossini” State Conservatory of Music (Pesaro); Band Orchestration at the “N. Piccinni” State Conservatory of Music (Bari); and Orchestral Conducting at the “G. Rossini” State Conservatory of Music (Pesaro).

He attended the course of High Specialization in Piano at the “Accademia Musicale Pescarese” under Maestro Bruno Mezzena. In October 1996, he attended the seminar on Sacred Polyphony and Gregorian Chant held by Maestros Piergiorgio Righele and Bonifacio Baroffio. In addition, he attended the international courses in Orchestral Conducting held by Maestro Piero Bellugi in Florence and the Courses of High Specialization for Orchestra Conductors held by Maestro Nicola Samale in Rome.

He gave several concerts both in Italy and abroad: Switzerland, the Principality of Liechtenstein, Austria, Germany, Uruguay, Argentina, Brazil, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, England, Greece, Bulgaria, and Croatia. He was invited to take part in national and international music festivals: Castellarte 1991-1992, Rapallo Musica 1992, Landshut Musikfestpiel 1990, Stadterding Musik, Festival Mozarteum, Musica sotto le Stelle Pescara 1998, Pescara Musicarte 1997-1999-2002, Basilea Musikfestpiel 1998, Rassegna Internazionale di Musica “Historia Sacra et Saecularis” (Pantheon, Rome), I Pomeriggi Musicali (10th edition, held in Avezzano), Note di Classe (18th edition, held at the Flaiano Theatre, Pescara), Fourth International Festival “al dolce vento dei fiati” (Ortona), Sixth International Festival “Musica a... Per... di... Fia... to...” (Celano), Festival Internazionale dell’Engadina (Sankt Moritz), Fondi Music Festival (Fondi).

He conducted the following orchestral formations: the “Constantinus Chamber Orchestra” of Belgrade, the “Eleazar de Carvalho” Chamber Orchestra of Fortaleza (Brazil), the “Anello Musicale” Symphonic Orchestra of Rome, “I Fiati Italiani” Orchestra of Novara, the Orchestra Sinfonica Marchigiana, the “Corelli Chamber Orchestra” of Roseto degli Abruzzi, the “N. Rota” Conservatory Orchestra of Monopoli.

He has already conducted the following operas: “La Serva Padrona” (“The Servant Turned Mistress”) and “Livietta e Tracollo” by G. B. Pergolesi; “La Canterina” (“The Songstress”) by F. J. Haydn; “La Dirindina” by D. Scarlatti; “Il Campanello” (“The Night Bell”) and “Don Pasquale” by G. Donizetti; “La Cambiale di Matrimonio” (“The Bill of Marriage”) and “La Cenerentola” (“Cinderella”) by G. Rossini; “Le Nozze di Figaro”, “Don Giovanni” and “Lo Sposo Deluso” (“The Deluded Bridegroom”) by W. A. Mozart; “Madama Butterfly” by G. Puccini; “La Traviata” and “Rigoletto” by G. Verdi.

He performed and recorded music for the official Uruguayan television “Canal 5 Sodre” and the German television “T.R.L.”.

He plays in a four-hand piano duo together with the pianist Tiziana Perna.

He composed pieces for solo piano and for violin and piano: “Indisso”, “Esatonal”, “Serinteg”, “Emme”, “Forsimme” and “Staton”; moreover, he wrote the music for the play “Escuriale” by Michel De Gelderode.

He is the author of two handbooks used in conservatories: 15 Prove d'esame per la Licenza di Teoria, Solfeggio e Dettato Musicale and 210 Dettati Melodici, published by Casa Editrice Primo

Tema of Pescara. He taught Composition and Music Theory in the European project “Scala”, organized by the “Sound Society” Association of Roseto degli Abruzzi.

In 1999 he recorded a musical CD with the Uruguayan soprano Beatriz Lozano containing the Romances for voice and piano by Francesco Paolo Tosti. With the Corelli Chamber Orchestra, in 2002 he gave the final concert of the 53rd edition of the “Premio Michetti” in Francavilla al Mare, and in October 2003 he went on tour to Salonica (Greece), Sofia (Bulgaria), Zagreb (Croatia), Kreuzlingen, Basle and Zurich (Switzerland). In summer 2003, a DVD was released containing the concert of the Corelli Chamber Orchestra he conducted for the 5th edition of the “Musica Sotto le Stelle” Festival, held in the cloister of Santa Maria of Propezzano Abbey. In 2004, he recorded with the Corelli Chamber Orchestra a double CD of before-unreleased pieces by Michele Mascitti and Fedele Fenaroli.

He gave and continues to give seminars and concert-lectures in various high schools and universities in the Abruzzo and Lazio regions, and as a music critic he collaborates with the journal Abruzzo nel Mondo.

He is art director of the following international music festivals: I Luoghi della Musica, 8th edition, held at the Pantheon, the Basilica of San Vitale and the Museo Nazionale Romano in Rome; Castellamar’Adriatico... La Musica fra Passato e Presente, 13th edition, held at the Museo d'Arte Moderna of Pescara; Propezzano Opera Festival, 14th edition, held in the cloister of Santa Maria of Propezzano Abbey, Morro D’Oro; Rosburgo Music Festival, 19th edition, held at the Villa Comunale of Roseto degli Abruzzi.

He teaches titular Choral Practice at the “N. Piccinni” Conservatory of Music Bari.

On 2nd June 2007 the President of the Italian Republic bestowed on him the honour of “Cavaliere Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana” (Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, Knight) for his artistic achievements.
